About The Message

The Message Trust is an award-winning youth charity, founded in 1992.

We have a well established reputation for being a pioneering organisation with a real passion to improve the lives of young people in Greater Manchester. Driven by Christian values, we help all sorts of young people from all sorts of backgrounds and with all sorts of beliefs.

We have been working in the city for 15 years and have developed a 'knack' for being able to get through to the hardest to reach young people. To enable this we operate a range of projects on the streets, in the community, in schools and in prisons, all with the aim of bringing hope, providing opportunities and releasing potential.

In brief, The Message...

    * Runs 9 'Eden' youth projects where over 100 volunteers live and work in tough urban contexts

    * Delivers around 2000 hours of youth work every month through over 300 separate activities

    * Is in contact with an average of 5,000 young people every month all over the city

    * Provides a safe 'off the street' environment for 500 young people every week using 2 high-tech mobile youth centres

    * Visits 20 high schools every year with inspirational pop group 'Blush'

    * Helps break the cycle of youth crime through innovative work in the region's Young Offenders Institutions

    * Operates a top-spec arts and music training centre in South Manchester

In all these ways and many more we demonstrate the values we believe in: hope, faith, love, compassion, encouragement, creativity and opportunity.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we depend on the generosity of people who share our passion to change the lives of young people. Our work is funded through donations from a range of sources including the business community, the general public, churches and various grants. Every pound given is vital to achieving the goal of bringing hope to young people and helping to transform their communities by putting faith into action.

The Bible Society

On the campaign trail

AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST, that’s what St Paul calls us to be in Corinthians (2 Cor 5.20). Much of Bible Society work here and overseas builds on his words as we seek to make the voice of the Bible heard across society and international frontiers; we are very active campaigners.

In England and Wales Bible Society is a fulltime Bible ambassador to our multi-faith culture. We also support Christians, and advise others, in the powerful worlds of education, the arts, media and politics.

Overseas our work continues. Not only do we join with you in putting Bibles into empty, outstretched hands. We also take a step further and speak up for the Bible’s potential with those in key positions of influence.

In countries facing huge challenges we meet and talk with powerful people about the difference this book makes to individual lives. We also remind these powerbrokers of the influence for good the Bible can have on society as a whole.

Christian Community Ministries (Barnton)
THIS REVIEW of the children at Emanuel Children’s Home is written for us by Simona (left), one of the children herself. A very mature young lady who knows exactly what she wants to do in life and we at CCM believe she will achieve. She gave her life to Jesus quite a few years ago and was baptised a few months ago.

Elena Moldovan:

She always a happy and open person. She’s in the 8th grade and this year she has to pass six important tests to continue on to high school. She likes very much English language that is why she had a competition. She passed it with a good mark and her teacher chose her to participate at local English competition.

Alexandra Kelemen:

Is in the 10th grade at Choreography High School. She likes very much ballet, but is very hard for her this year because she has ballet classes from 9.00 until 12.00 in the morning. After that she has general classes from 1.00 until 5.00pm. It is very tiring for her but she is a brave girl. She knows that hard work will help her dream come true. She’s very intelligent and solitary person.

Andreia Costea:

After the very hard period she has been through in this summer she realizes that her freedom and happiness which she wanted, isn’t found on the streets or in clubs. Now she sees things differently. She has good marks, she doesn’t run from school and she’s a new person. Now you can talk with her and advice her. She thanks God that she didn’t leave the CCM. Andreia is happy with the others children from Emanuel.

Andrei Cozac:

Andrei is in the 8th grade and knows he has a lot to learn to pass his exams. He has some problems with his results previously. He is not a boy who you can talk to, often he turns his back and walks away.

Calin Baraian:

It’s easy to talk about him because he’s a good boy. He’s in the 10th grade at school and he likes very much what he does there. His dream is to repair cars or thing with motor. He is a sensible person with a kind heart. He’s influenced very easy by the people who he talks with.

Claudiu Schintee:

He passed his exams well and now he’s at the Agro-Tourism University. He is a reliable teenager. But unfortunately he does only what he wants to.
Simona Ros: She is in 12th grade at Theological High School. This year she has to pass some important exams which will help her to join a good University. She is a person who you can communicate with, also she a trustworthy person.

Cristinel Ursu:

He is a big boy now too. He is in 1st grade at school. He isn’t attentive to what the others ask him to do. This makes him to be a little bit slow at school. Now he plays with another girl, Iasmina, who arrived at Emanuel in August. He’s a good boy but we all know he could be better.
Iasmina Sava: She’s in the 1st grade too. She likes school especially Romanian classes. She’s a friendly and lively girl and very playful. She is attached with people who give her attention.
