'Worldwide Hope'

Dear Friends, 

We live in difficult times. Life seems to be moving so fast and our ‘normal’ ways of living are so disrupted. Life seems so uncertain and different.  

As we seek to live responsibly with Covid-19 we are finding huge lifestyle changes which can seem very unsettling and troubling.  In the light of communications from both the Government and The Church of England there are no services and other Church associated activities happening at St Wilfrid’s, Davenham.

All of this obviously has huge implications for us as a local Church but one thing it should mean is the resolve to keep encouraging and to keep focused on God. 

There is a weekly ‘Words of Encouragement’ on this website to feed our spiritual focus.

Life isn’t easy at all this time.  We long for the end of the spread of Cov-19 - things will change and it will not spread like it is indefinitely. However, nothing can stop the spread of the gospel. Nothing can stop the spread of the good news of Jesus and for that we should be very grateful.

Hold onto confidence in the Living God of love who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit; the God who cares about each and every one of us.  We rejoice in the Father and Son who sent the Holy Spirit to help us.  God the Spirit with us to bless us, encourage us and unable us to reach out the message of hope in Jesus.  

The words of Jesus: “But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:26-27)

May you know God’s peace, strength, and hope at this time. Despite the difficulties may this be a time where we rest in God, and show love and practical care for one another.

We want to be people who have Jesus Christ at the centre of all we are about.  This is because we are delighted to know, and want others to know and enjoy the living God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We aim to be a loving community supporting each other and growing in love for God; and to give a huge welcome to  those in our  local area and further afield – so they can easily be a part of church life.

We have Fellowship Groups,  monthly prayer meetings, seniors ministries,  teaching courses and lots more.  So if you want to find out more of what’s going on please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
